The video game auteur is known for crafting gorgeous fantasy worlds where much of the backstory, and even the game's story itself, is left up to player interpretation. Fumito Ueda, who also served as the developer of ICO and The Last Guardian, teased a new game back in January 2021. While No Matter Studios seems to have crafted a very capable successor to Shadow of the Colossus, the original game's director is apparently working on a brand-new project of his own. The title is also non-linear, meaning the world can be explored and bosses can be vanquished in whichever order the player chooses, which draws similarities to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Cast as a mysterious adventurer, players must survive a brutal frozen landscape as they track down, climb and kill a number of massive beasts. While the gameplay is inspired by Shadow of the Colossus, Praey for the Gods also features survival and crafting mechanics which help it stand apart from its predecessor. In 2018 Bluepoint Games remade Shadow of the Colossus, maintaining most of the title's classic gameplay while also recreating all of its assets using modern graphics and technology. Upon release, SOTC received monumental praise for its unique climbing gameplay and subtle world-building, with many considering the title an interactive work of art. In order to complete this seemingly impossible task, the player must locate, scale, and eventually slay sixteen massive colossi in a novel mixture of combat and puzzle-solving. The classic PlayStation exclusive casts gamers as Wander, a young man who trespasses into a forbidden land in an attempt to resurrect a young woman named Mono.
